Sports Competitions
Sporting Achievements
Here at Huntington Community Primary School, we strongly believe that children should be given the opportunity to:
'play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending.' (KS2 Curriculum)
At Huntington, we aim to provide pupils with a wide range of opportunities to take part in inter-school competition - some of the pupils' recent achievements are listed below.
Football (November 2024)
What a great afternoon of football at Christleton High! Our Y4 girls' squad really enjoyed themsleves, spurred on by parental support, and were in contention for a place in the final until the last group game. Well done, girls!
Hockey (October 2024)
Pupils from Year 6 enjoyed competing against other Chester schools in a hockey tournament in Upton. In glorious sunshine, they quickly developed their skills and put in some great performances. Well done, everyone!

Rugby (October 2024)
A beautiful morning for some super rugby from our Y6 squad at Chester Rugby Club. Clear skill development was observed by the organising coaches, and three wins and a draw were proof of that! Well done, everyone!
Mini Marathon (October 2024)
Wow! For the third year running, we had the most competitors taking part in MBNA's Mini Marathon from a single school. Therefore, we retained the beautiful trophy. Well done to all our runners - staying healthy, and raising funds for Claire House by taking part.
Rugby (October 2024)
A great morning for our Year 4 pupils at Chester Rugby Club, playing touch rugby against other local schools. Played five, won five - a super set of performances from everyone. Well done!
Football (January 2024)
In an outstanding achievement, both our boys and girls football teams qualified for the County Finals, held at Crewe Alexandra's training facility. The boys, having been crowned Chester champions in November's district competition, reached the county semi-finals, narrowly losing 1-0 to a last minute goal (having won two and drawn one of their group matches, followed by a quarter final victory over Saughall, also from Chester).
The girls team, as Chester district runners-up, performed with tremendous team spirit against some very strong opponents, and held their own in two narrow defeats and a draw.
We are incredibly proud of both squads, and thank parent Mr Pullman for his efforts in readying the players for the finals.

District Athletics (June 2023)
A second place finish, missing out on the title by one point! A wonderful effort by all our athletes.
The squad with the runners-up trophy
We were delighted to see over 70 children take part in the local Chester Mini Marathon on 3 Oct 2022, winning the MBNA participation trophy:
