Chester FC

In 2025 and 2026 we teamed up with Chester FC to promote girls' football and physical health.

In March 2025, Kalvin Williams, manager of the Chester FC women's team, came to school to deliver football training sessions for girls in all year groups from Reception to Year 6, as our contribution to England Football's 'Biggest Ever Football Session'.

Then in 2026, we established a Y4/5 Girls' Football club, with Kalvin delivering the training sessions, and the initial one term duration of the club extended due to its popularity.

Chester FC staff also delivered an engaging and enjoyable health education programme, GULP (Give Up Loving Pop), to Y3 pupils in the spring term of 2026.

Chester Rugby Union FC

Pupils from Y4 and Y6 take part in touch rugby festivals every year at Chester RUFC, organised by the Chester School Sport Partnership, of which our school is an ongoing member.

A special event took place in the autumn of 2025, when pupils from Y6 took part in a special girls only event at the club, in collaboration with Sale Sharks. The girls met international players Leah Bartlett (Scotland) and Alba Capell (Spain), and enjoyed both competitive matches and some fun warm-up activities - some of the girls went on to attend regular training sessions with Chester RUFC.

Join a club

Many young people take part in sport during the school day, but there are fewer who take part in activities outside of school. Once children have left education, many young people do not regularly participate in sport or physical activity.

Therefore, we believe that it is important to promote local sports clubs, to encourage children to continue participating in sports outside the school day.
