Urgent Advice to Access a PCR Test (June 2nd, 2021)
We have been working with Cheshire West and Chester Council Public Health Team to investigate the cause of the current outbreak of COVID-19 in the school. These investigations have identified that the cause of the outbreak is likely to be the Variant B.1.671.2 (Delta variant) which is more transmissible than other previous variants.
Due to this development the Public Health Team are now advising that all Huntington Primary staff and pupils should book an appointment for a PCR test, to ensure anyone who is infectious but does not have symptoms is identified. (You should not get tested if you have tested positive in the past 90 days, though).
The lateral flow device home testing kits should not be used instead of the PCR test.
To book a test you should visit https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test and select ‘My local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms‘ or call 119 (see lower down for detailed steps).
Anyone who tests positive should report the test result immediately to the school (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If your child is unable or unwilling to be tested we have been advised that all adults in the household should be tested instead to enable the identification of households with cases that don’t have symptoms.
While waiting for your test result you do not need to self-isolate unless:
• You develop symptoms of COVID-19 - a high temperature, or a new and continuous cough, or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
• Someone you live with develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19
• You are contacted by the school or NHS Test and Trace and advised to self-isolate
This request is part of the wider drive to track new variants and keep everybody safe – we regret the inconvenience this may cause, but are sure you will appreciate the importance of following this strong advice.
